1,4-Butanediol (BDO) is a very important chemical raw material. It is widely used in many areas. To produce BDO, the intermediate 1,4-butynediol (BYD) is produce by the reaction of acetylene and formaldehyde in the presence of complex catalyst. In the reaction solution, besides BYD, there are still many other organic and inorganic impurities, such as Ca2+, Mg2+, SiO3, HCOO",some coloring materials and other organics. Before being concentrated by dewatering, the impurities must be removed first by ion exchange resins.
